About the Town Council

Blackwater and Hawley Town Council was established in 1894 and covers 4,590 acres in the north eastern corner of Hampshire. It is one of the 17 Parish and Town Councils in the Hart District and incorporates Blackwater, Hawley, Minley and part of the Ancells Farm Estate in Fleet. At its northern boundary it borders the Blackwater River and in the south it borders the Basingstoke Canal.

The Town Council is responsible for a number of facilities; in particular the Blackwater and Hawley Leisure Centre complex which offers a wide variety of sports facilities. The Leisure Centre also houses a fully licensed bar, and function facilities.

At Ancells Farm in Fleet the Council operates a modern Community Centre with various rooms for hire.

The Council Offices are located in Blackwater, although meetings of the Town Council are held in the Council Room at the Memorial Hall, Hawley Green.

Council Meetings

Meetings of Blackwater and Hawley Town Council and its' Committees are held on most Mondays in the Council Room at the Memorial Hall, Hawley Green commencing at 7 p.m.

Members of the Public are welcome to attend for the open parts of these Meetings and a Fifteen Minute Period is allowed during the course of each evening to enable anyone present to ask questions about any of the items listed on the Agenda papers. Copies of the Agenda for each Meeting are displayed on the following notice boards for several days before the Meeting concerned:
